The main thing I got from this film that shook-me-to-the-core (!) was the contrast between the Douglas and Duval characters... Duval had way more reason to be bitter at life than Douglas but he held on and saved the little girl and stupid wife and was able to say to that bastard-cop "Fuck you. Fuck you very much".
