weight and merit does not reflect the world we live in”. Pretty sure this wasn’t taught in my college journalism class over 40 yrs. ago. If this is true, why not just start and end reporting by interviewing only the conservative side.

Wasn't taught in my journalism classes either. Using a person's race in a headline was also a no no with a few exceptions but here we are.
Not sure of your age or if you know Walter Kronkite, but I consider him one of the last legit journalists. He was a Democrat but you wouldn’t know it from his broadcasts. Back in the 60s and 70s he did straightforward and unbiased news casting. If editorializing was needed, they featured a separate segment on the broadcast noting it was an editor and that”these views do not necessarily reflect those of this station”. THAT is legitimate journalism. Now EVERY journalist also editorializes.
