The companion book to "Alice In Wonderland' is "Through The Looking Glass." Both are worth a read. Ostensibly they are just tales, but there is a lot of wry social commentary under the surface. And the original John Tenniel illustrations are great.

Yes, I had them both.

We used to go as kids to the Salvation Army with my mother, each of us would be given a box and we would fill it with books. We went once a week, ended up with quite a library.

Wish I still had them, one gem was Dickens for Children. It was short stores from Dickens, every child in the book died.

My sister and I used to quote lines from the book to each other because the stories were so over the top.

Each story ended with a line like, "And Little Nell turned her face to the wall and died." we would say the lines together and roar with laughter, our parents had no idea what we are laughing about.

I think Dickens would have been very annoyed with us :)

Ha ha!

Here is Tenniel. I never saw this website about illustrators before. He had quite a life.

Thank you, didn't he have a grand mustache! And yes, he did have quite a life, appears to have been quite a nice one too.

Thank you again :)
