Openly anti communist yet advancing the "european model of socialism" under the surface the whole time. We were just born in this time period and have little experiential understanding of what was happening. It should have been a tip-off to us that the openly violent communists went to ground but that was covered by this period of normalcy where, like you said, the USA was openly anti-communist. Not so openly, the left was filling every deepstate, education, etc position they could. Consider this: while we were "openly anti-communist", EVERYONE's kids were being fed propaganda about McCarthy. That should tell you that that it's not a nonsense argument at all. Ask a "conservative" today about McCarthy and you'll get some version of "we shouldn't treat people that way even if he was right" ... at best. You're more likely to get a "well, mccarthyism is bad, we're better than that". More importantly, it was the PC culture that bore fruit. You can be as anti-communist on the surface as you want, the past 20 years has shown us that if you advance PC culture, you'll still end up in the same shit we are today. It's not the surface stuff that matters, it's the deep ingraining of PC culture which shapes thought that eventually gives results. Teaching kids about the horrors of communism does NOTHING if their thought processes are PC. They'll "forget" about the horrors at the blink of an eye and tell you "we won't do that" in the next sentence.
