Just to be clear, these stats are their "death rate" which they define as the number of deaths divided by the total population of that province. So basically COVID has killled 0.03% of all residents of BC whether they've ever got COVID or not.
This is different from the case fatality rate and the infection fatallity rate. The case fatality rate is the number of COVID deaths divided by the total number of known cases. This figure is typically between 1-4%. But of course not all people who got COVID ever got tested, so the infection fatality rate is the number of deaths divided by the assumed number of total cases of COVID, where they try to model how many COVID+ cases were missed. This number tends to be between 0.2-1%
And this is also all considering that they consider pretty much any death within 30 days of a positive COVID test as a COVID death. So the death numbers are likely hugely inflated.
I know about 20 different people in a couple different states that got the cold to end all colds and it was........like having the cold. Oh, and no one died.

After a year we'd all know someone who died from the virus, if it was bad.
Me, my family, and my friends cover 4 states. Don't know of anyone having anything remotely bad
I know two people who have had covid, neither of them live near me. One is a friend who moved to London and he, his wife, and his baby all got it.
The other is my uncle who lives in another city.
I don't know anyone who has died from it or even had major complications yet.
