I was interrogated at length about my Trump-love just prior to the election by my lefty, LA-dwelling, very-fucking-rich brother and sister-in-law. They blind-sided me, and my SIL in particular can talk and talk with so much body language! Like she was putting a performance.
I'm still kicking myself that I didn't fight back better, but we were all trying to keep it not-a-fight. I remember saying several times "I love Trump! He's a fantastic President. He has so many accomplishments." And at one point I said "You're ganging up on me-- two against one." And they looked right at me and said no, it's not two against one. So I was not supposed to believe my lying eyes!
I did say, how do you feel about much higher taxes, and they said we love to pay taxes. and I said how do you feel about our country being flooded with illegals? And they were like, we have no problema with that. (They're so nanny-class.) So you can't reason with such people! There's no way. I'm dying to ask them NOW if they're still supportive of the changes that are cascading down.
They'll likely maintain "This is fine." As they lay crushed in the rubble.
I was baffled when I first encountered Democrat reality denial. I just thought it was a quirk around 1 or 2 issues...
I had no idea it was a full on way of life.
I was about 20. My friends older brother, 30, a very nice and capable guy who was involved with the local Democratic party.
I heard him make a comment that they (the local D's) supported instituting nationwide Canadian style gun control measures.
I pointed out the original intent of the 2nd was clearly not just to enshrine the citizenries right of access to light hunting firearms.
I whooped up on him pretty good for a few minutes. I expressed I didn't like them scheming to usurp my constitutional rights. He looked at me like I was some kind of wingnut, and began to repeat . "No one is trying to take away your guns."
