These polls are pointless. The probably asked the question in a weird way that made you agonize about the answer. I would normally participate in Gallup poll and their questions always made things so confusing. 41% couldn’t answer the question honestly more like.

It's questions like "do you think violent criminals should have no access to guns?" which is a no brainer but they'll use your response as "proof" that gun control is a bipartisan issue.

"I think everyone should have access to guns." feels like the only correct answer to a question like that.

It's a trick question because it concedes the notion that violent criminals should be allowed outside of prison, or an unmarked grave, in the first place.

Put guns in prisons. Prison populations will fall drastically. It could save millions in taxpayer dollars.

Then maybe the answer should be "I don't think that any prisoners should have access to guns?" lol

I think excons should still have all the rights they are guaranteed. If you believe they should still be punished, a court should have decided a longer punishment.

My answer would be “Yes, as long as I do too”.

Wait. No. Damn double negatives.

They asked a long list of questions related to guns. Probably if you answered yes to one question you support more gun control, even if it is already on the books.

Yeah and also 59 being against stricter doesn't mean 41 are for it. Some percent are probably happy with current laws, and some other percent probably no data available or other categorical choices
