I did stay at a Motel 8 once, if that helps.
I stayed at a motel 8 that was infested with roaches once. There were no other rooms. I wrote to the corporate headquarters. After much haggling back and forth, I ended up getting 7 nights of free stays in any of the properties they owned. The effort it took to stand up for myself paid off.
