Yeah, the danger with the Catholic priests was that they have the Catholic church protecting them - in Ireland they shuffled around offending priests to protect them which just meant they had even more victims, but as far as likelihoods go it's less likely for a priest to be one than the average.

Of course, those shrinks knew that Fr "Domesday" would simply bounce back and the Church would keep paying and paying.
Finally, the priesthood is not "just a job." The bishops have a "duty of care" for the souls of their priests. just as the priests have a duty of care for their parishioners.
Oh I have zero love for shrinks whatsoever, but that doesn't rob the church of agency - in the end they covered for the offenders and moved them around, giving them access to new children. The following orders excuse didn't cut it for others, why should it for them?
