I've said this elsewhere, but it's worth repeating: the court despises vigilantism more than any other crime because no other crime so threatens the court's monopoly on justice. If every father of every raped child simply executed the rapist, the authority of the court would be greatly diminished.
Of course, a system that routinely fails to adequately punish evil has already abdicated its duty and voided the social contract. For that same court to then rule so harshly against true justice should signal everyone that legal system is acting in direct defiance of its only purpose and has become nothing more than another corrupt institution dedicated only up cementing and expanding its own power - and destroying anyone who threatens or diminishes that power.
