I do disagree with government having power like this. This just proves that when the government has the power to give you something, they also have the power to take it away.
Instead, it should be illegal for governments to be able to provide tax breaks and incentives for specific businesses. That is what should be illegal. It should be either for all businesses, or none. No more of this bullshit that gives tax breaks to specific businesses.
My small business doesn't get any tax breaks because we moved to our current city. I'm sure the big, international business next door to me (literally, one of the worlds biggest companies) gets massive tax breaks that we don't get.
And if the multinational doesn't get specific tax breaks, the barrier to them setting up a tax shelter in Ireland is basically nothing, where as to a small business it's going to require expenditure probably more than the company is worth.
