I mentor school kids and eat lunch with them once a week.

Most of the kids throw the lunch in the trash. It's a huge waste of food.

The myth that kids are starving and their school lunch is the only meal they get is fabricated bullshit.

My daughter went to kindergarten this year and after two weeks back in person, I had to ask the teacher to stop sending lunches home with her because I was throwing pounds of uneaten food away every day. What a bizarre waste.

I take it you never heard of the military dumping thousands of pounds of jet fuel into the ocean because if they didn't use it their budget would get cut next year?

Use it or lose it! Our local school district bought iPads for everyone just to blow through the budget a few years back.
