I know this is a tough question, and I am a marine instead of an Army vet...but here goes: "How many GUYS pass the exam?"
I ask this because, now in my 60's, I (still) teach a form of combat karate. Last Saturday I attended an "away" class which included 5 of my fellow geezers (30's-70's) and three ranks of beginners-through intermediates of all ages from 11 up.
At the lunch all of us geezers went to afterward, the topic of "today's kids" came up. They cannot do push-ups at ALL when they start. At a point when we were (decades ago) at their level, we were able to do 10 "corrective" push-ups on our KNUCKLES pretty much ON DEMAND (whenever we hosed up something for the third time after being corrected twice. This inability includes the young men...not just the women.
THEN (and I won't e-ven) go to active duty...the topic of "making pain our friend" came up. Same status, different issue. I guess it's part of the push-up thing...two-knuckle pushups were NEVER without pain. Yet I have a young student who recently stated he wants to go SOC. I pointedly pulled him aside and explained he needs to step up his game. Not so much to achieve "this or that belt" before he goes SOC, but he needs to learn to accept and deal with pain, "on the move."
So when we say 84% of WOMEN don't pass an Army Combat test, how many of todays soy-boi GUYS pass it on their first try?
Do I want women in combat roles? Let me get back to you on that.
Women do not belong in the military. During peace times, there is 0 reason to have a single woman in the military. In times of war, women should be hired as civilians to help out the war effort and that's it. You will never change my mind on this. I don't care about soviet snipers. No women in the military, period.
When I served, 79 to 82, we had all kinds of wak's in uniform. Dike waks, whore wags, and just plain waks. They made the time extremely acceptible, watching the guys chase them around was hilarious. Some were true companions, some where pure trouble, but in the end, the one's who were comitted, did their job to acceptible standards, and helped with our mission's.
Cool story. I'm not saying women are incapable. It's not a matter of CAN but SHOULD. And women should not be in the military. They should be at home having children and raising them instead.
No, a woman's place during war is at home taking care of children and having more babies. If she is going to help out, it should be hired on as civilian contractors.
They belong in support roles. If the day comes where women will be able to pick up and carry a wounded soldier in full gear to safety, then I'll support them in combat roles.
If I was in combat and I need someone to carry 150 lbs I am pretty sure I would give more of a shit whether the other soldiers could carry 150 lbs than if the army is diverse enough.
The needs of combat don't change based on your gender.

*WAC
You never served with a wak, huh?
How about the other 16% that passed the test? I'm fine with it as long as they can meet the same standards.
Women should be subject to the draft however and serve in a supporting role to the military.

Women shouldn't be in combat. I'm a woman, and women who insist on being in combat have to be low IQ to begin with imo....

On the bright side, the trans women still pass the test at least 57% of the time. The other 43% aren't available for comment

So they fail. Done.
Oospy Daisy,, maybe they should lower the bars, like they do for students in black communities....
No problem. Learn from academia. Call it racist and do away with the test!!
In stead of a Combat Test, do a social program test.
God help us when we actually get into combat, but if you are a Democrat, you don't think about tomorrow. Power today is all that matters.
That seems to be their plan. The article is frothing at what a terrible job the Army has done in creating this test.
