Hi everyone, I'm usually just a lurker but wanted to ask for some advice. I was told by the HR rep at my work that "White people do not have a cultural identity but Black people do". I told her this was clearly racist and she set up an appointment for me with the Equity group to discuss. Any advice or data on white culture to help convince the Equity division people would be appreciated.

Western civilization is white people's cultural contribution to the world. Magna Carta, Constitution, Western art and architecture...

Yeah, i was in the mindset of holidays or something but thats a great point. I'll use democracy itself as my example.

Show them the Smithsonian agit-prop about characteristics of whiteness, like being on time, etc. Ask if they would prefer you act less white at work, then start showing up late and doing a shitty job, so you can fit in better.

Print out the poster and just have them check off which parts of your culture they would like you to abandon in order to be more tolerant and diverse.

How is any of this relevant to you doing your job at work? In other words, how is it you were speaking to the HR person and this was a subject, in the first place?

We produce scientific research papers for journals. Racial breakdowns of results are common. This stemmed from my questioning their capitalization rules of capitalizing all races except white.

Since the 'AP Styleguide' for writing went woke and decided to capitalize the b in black, I've seen this bullshit all over. I personally just started arbitrarily capitalizing the w in white, while leaving the b in black as its proper lower case version, to highlight the arbitrariness and idiocy of it all. You probably won't have that luxury in your professional capacity.

I agree with others. Even if you just say, "oh, my bad, I want to be down with the cause," you'll be known as a troublemaker. They will know that YOU know it's bullshit. Do you think most folks at your company agree with you on this?
