I don't think he's caving, he's a smart man. Knows when to talk when not to talk. If he just says what he wants to on Fox then he won't get back on. But lot's of his base still watch fox - like not the internet people like us but the boomer normies. So if he wants them to hear him still, to still have a presence constantly putting pressure on the current admin and staying relevant then he needs to reign it in while on those platforms.
Whereas when he's on Lara Trumps interview he can say what he wants, he's comfortable there. Similar to how he'll say what he wants at rallies
