In the early days of the "holocaust," the claim was that 11,000,000 died (6m jews and 5m goy), Sam Wiesenthal made it all up, because he knew that no one cared the "ZOMG!! 6,000,000 jews!" claim, from all the previous times it had been tried over the prior nine decades.
What the GULAG Archipelago revealed is that communism is essentially the applied Torah, where the most oppressed are actually the most chosen by God and fit to lead. So, the holocaust was about forcing the rest of the world to value the oppressed and to put the jews stop that pile.
This is why, you don't need deny the holocaust to the uninitiated, simply lower the jews on the oppression hierarchy. E.g. "The African slave trade spanned generations of hopelessness, making it far worse than the holocaust." or "Zyklon is painless, you just fall asleep, but those millions of crucified Armenians? Now that is horrifying."
If the holocaust isn't the worst oppression ever, it becomes worthless.
