A year ago. It all originally came from him. This one guy:
The scientist whose advice prompted Boris Johnson to lock down Britain.
One. Guy.
LOOK AT THIS:
"The findings of that paper, which has not been peer-reviewed, have faced growing scrutiny in recent weeks after countries that did not impose lockdown measures registered far fewer deaths than predicted by Imperial’s modelling."
He was just plain wrong. But the social wheels had started turning and nobody changed course.
Then there were all those videos of sick people and crowded clinics. They were convincing at that time.
But you don't normally get uploaded videos from that part of the world... and the streets were so clean. Not a dropped candy wrapper anywhere. People clunking down. With medics right nearby. Yelling nurses. Yelling apartment dwellers being dragged out. With cameras conveniently right there to show the world.
Yes. A paradigm will shift without a clutch. That's from Scott Adams.
The idea is to USE HARD what you have. Whatever has not yet been taken. They still let you take a walk, masked and distanced? Take one, and yell hello.
This makes you valuable and useful to that person, who will start wanting to be nearer and less masked, perhaps, depending on circumstances. But just because we can't do what we would like to, doesn't mean we can't do anything at all.
If all the people who have read Sophocles in the original language go to one side of a boat, the boat lists and dips in that direction.
If all the people who can't read above a fourth grade level go to one side of that boat, the boat also lists and dips in that direction.
The sheer weight of persons matters!
