Even that low rent tart, Madonna, wouldn't have paired that jacket with that ensemble. But yep, that's what it looks like -- you forgot your hair scrunchie Jill!
I was very fond of giant satin hair bows back then. But I wasn't elderly at the time. Mutton dressed as lamb always looks so desperate and pathetic. Yuck.
I remember those...I was quite unfashionable for most of my youth. My mom took one look at those big bows, puffy scrunchies, and headbands; the patterned lace stockings, piles of chains/pearls, ankle boots, and puff skirts -- "you're not wearing that". I spent most of my teenage years in school uniforms, barn clothes/hunting gear, and "appropriate formal cocktail ensemble" as per Mom and numerous aunties. Hated it at the time (except for the barn clothes/hunting gear), but at least there are no pictures of me floating around with the double bangs and leg warmers.
On young girls it looks a bit extra, but youth can pull it off...Jillie needs somebody to introduce her to sweater sets, plain hose, and pumps.
I wore a school uniform 5 days a week too. But it was in the 1970s. By the 1980s I was in college and going out dancing a lot. I had tons of tomboy hobbies and activities but at night I was all coquettish glam. I even saved up for ages to buy a real Victor Costa pouf dress so that I could could get that Ivana Trump look. And yes to all your style advice. What a lot of these broads fail to realize is that dressing too young actually makes women look older. Tacky and older, both. 💋
The 1980s called and they want their clothes back.

Honey I rocked the 80’s and wouldn’t have worn that get up to a dog fight!
Cheers babe! 🥂
Yeah no shit . . . I thought it was an article about Madonna.
