I realized a long time ago that doctors & nurses, especially those who are involved in public information bs, lie.
They lie even when there’s no money in it. They lie to cover up the fact they don’t know what they’re talking about. They lie because they’re ideologically (as opposed to medically) convinced that your health depends on you being lied to as if you’re a child.
Nurse practitioner reading government recommendations off a cue card in childbirth classes, telling everybody not having crib bumpers will prevent SIDS.
Doctor telling me antibiotics are for viral infections and they do no good for bacterial infections. Those both happened in the same year, and there have been many more since then.
It was the first time I had gone to see this doctor. I'm sure you've heard of antibiotics being overprescribed. The is the first and only doctor I've been to who cited this problem as a reason to not prescribe them, but this is the kicker: He told me that antibiotics are useless against bacterial infections.
I stayed sick for another week, coughing up bleu cheese (but in a variety of colors) and running high fevers until I went to another doctor. The antibiotics she prescribed cleared it up in no time. From death's door to feeling almost completely well in 24 hours.
This was about 13 years ago. It may have been my first experience of clown world. I remember talking about it to my wife, because the shit this fucker said wouldn't pass muster in an 8th-grade science class. And she just said "well, that's what the doctor said." I thought I was losing my mind.

Job security. You don't get as many patients if everyone exercises and stays trim.
Wow. This is quite a take. I’ve never once felt like a doctor I’ve seen or taken my kids to see has been lying to me. Why do you say this?

Are you saying your doctor diagnosed you with a bacterial infection and didn't give antibiotics?
That is correct.

Sorry to hear that. That’s been the very opposite of my experience
