Aren't we in the middle of a terrible opioid epidemic because doctors and big pharma DON'T have our best interests in mind?

I've got sciatica. I went to the doctor for help because I've needed motrin 3x daily for over a year.

He recommended a shot in my spine or fusing a disk.

I declined and said I'd think about it.

Had to buy new shoes and work boots that day.

Noticed within 3 days that the new shoes took my 600mg 3x daily of ibuprofen down to 400mg 2x daily, rarely 3x.

Mentioned this to my doctor and asked for referral to the foot doctor.

Turns out my feet are fucked up which keeps my back misaligned causing the sciatica. He gave me prescription insoles.

For $50 I found a treatment that didn't require drugs or surgery that gives me mobility back so I'm able to exercise, fixing my sciatica.

Why should I trust a doctor after all that?

I needed surgery on my foot a few years ago, until I chose not to. It got better on its own. Would have really sucked to have spent thousands of dollars and been laid up for nothing.
