People REALLY need to wake the hell up to the threat of all cars being electric. Blows my mind how even some awake people are cheering this shit on and happy for it.

Electric cars=FULL control and limited freedom of movement

People can grasp an Over The Air update that bricks their phone or turns off their internet connection, but dont seem to understand that all modern electric cars are/will be created with that ability from the manufacturer.

There is a reason the Left and govt is clamoring for this shit ASAP and it sure as hell IS NOT saving the environment.

If anyone thinks for a second that the Govt would not do that, ask the millions of Texans who froze in their homes because the Feds would not allow more power stations to come online due to carbon regulations.

It was an intentional punishment for Texans and our weak Gov. Abbot failed to throw off the Federal shackles and do what is right for Texas.

If Texas seceeds, I'll come help.

My understanding is that most modern cars already have those vulnerabilities—which is not to say that they wouldn’t be present to an even greater degree in fully-electric/autonomous vehicles; just that the concern exists even as things are now.

Not even close in actuality. With gas engines, one can disable all of the electronics and run the engine with a primitive ignition system and some type of carb if it ever really got that bad. Would be chopped to hell, but it would go from A to B and still be able to be refueled in 5 minutes.

Electric cars are an entirely different animal.

Also to consider is that there's a huge number of somewhat aging cars on the road that this logic doesn't apply to at all, where there is no such capability.

Exactly. I love old cars and trucks and there's nothing short of physically wrenching on them that could permanently stop them

First thing I'm going to do when I get my cybertruck is install a great big manual "off" switch in the dash - like one of those giant paddles on a table saw. Second thing is install "off" switches for the satellite and wifi connections.

I also have several 1960s motorcycles and cars with zero modern electronics and a supply of ethanol free gas. Fuck you very much commies.

EDIT: and yes, I'm putting up some windmills to take advantage of the constant ocean breezes, and will install solar after the next price drop.

Government can turn off electric, just like Venezuela and Cuba

In which case good luck using a gas pump when you could be charging your car from solar panels

I read something a while back, that law enforcement is very into the amount of control Tesla has over a vehicle, and that the possibility of a way for them to ID a car during a chase and limit how fast it can go, if not shut it down and navigate the car to the curb, locking the doors.

I don't know if anything came of it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's being worked on.

I mean, actual Tesla owners find out after the purchase that Tesla's in some cases are a subscription model. Want heated seats? Buy the upgrade, in the form of a software unlock.

I know several people who swallowed the Tesla pill. They're incredible tech, except for the batteries. They're basically laptops with wheels. To think that kind of control won't be used eventually is naive. I do wonder if Elon would allow it, though. But with the number of electric cars coming onto the market, someone will do it, and then all of them will.

I completely agree, even if Elon is against it someone will and then all will.
