I usually just take the shills on in virtual combat. Saying that there is going to be a point where they might really be able to effect things and it can't be ignored or always taken so lightly.
The problem is with this is that there are some obvious shills but quite often with these efforts the kinds of people that are afraid of it aren't shills but normal people that might have somewhat different views on things. It very quickly becomes a case of divide and conquer as well as friendly fire. If you want to fight great but make sure it's the right person.
