No, at this point the question should be . . .

"What WILL Jesus do?"

For all of this faith placed in him, God sure doesn't do anything to help his children out. Might as well be Q.

It has always been - mostly - up to us. Before His ascension, the apostles were expecting Him to create a worldly kingdom and He told them that was their job. I can just image the pain, fear, and disappointment they felt as He ascended, leaving them physically alone. As I read through the gospels, I was surprised at the lack of faith and understanding of the apostles.

The Lord is not some worldly wizard conjuring up magical swords to defeat dragons. He whispers quietly to us, urging us to hold to the faith one more day.

To be fair, we have it really easy. The horrors which the early Christians endured is almost unmentionable. Stalin, Pol Pot, Hitler had nothing on the imaginative cruelty of the Ceasars. The Armenians were brutalized by the Turks. Our suffering is negligible in comparison.

What to do? Live every day as if Chist will return tomorrow; be penitent and patient. Be remorseful for your sins.

The Lord will return and vengeance shall be His. As Thomas Jefferson said: "I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever."
