Greenwald waking up and becoming redpilled over the last few years has been facinating to watch. Like watching a birth. It took hitting him in his gutt (journalism) for him to start to wake up from the uber leftist BS he spewed daily.
He created "The Intercept" for his own journalistic freedom after the Snowden story broke and things tightened up at his former news outlet. I don't know the details of how it happened, but apparently Greenwald lost control of The Intercept and they began censoring his work so he left it.
I'm guessing he had to accept investors who demanded editorial control in return for funding and that's how it happened.

He's the most redpilled journalist out there.
