I didn't like Dunkirk. It was the first Nolan movie in a while I watched and was let down. I know he's always trying to do things with time in his movies but the time split thing didn't make it better. Then I saw Tenet and that sucked. Nolan is in the dog house for me. Hope he gets back on track.1917 was the last movie I saw in theaters. It was good. Don't think it would be remembered as fondly if not for the one shot style though. Before that was Joker. Better than I thought it would be. Wouldn't call it a top 100 movie for more anything. I barely went to the theaters before that. Saw Force Awakens and Rogue One and decided I was done with caring about Star Wars. I think the last movie I thought was really good that I went to see at the movies was Ex Machina, which was coming up on 6 years ago.
Dunkirk was highly overrated. Still a good film but it felt like more of an art piece on the big screen than a true telling of what the war was like.
1917 was far superior in showing what war was. And much more entertaining and heart wrenching.
