My two main fun activities were seeing live music and movies. I would plan vacation time around a band I loved playing at a club in a part of the world I wanted to see. Been to scores of big concerts/festivals, but those are a hassle. Lemmie see Deerhoof or Blackalicious in a venue that holds hundreds and I'm in heaven. Used to go to the movies several times a month, easy. Arthouse, grindhouse, revivals, and the occasional blockbuster. Now, of course, I'd carefully vet who I'd support with my dollars, and me and several friends have decent setups at home, and consider piracy a patriotic duty in most cases.
tl;dr: Fuck communism for all the big important reasons, but also because it stole two big sources of joy in my life.
