That was probably where it was filmed mostly, but the setting is a small town in between Portland and Seattle called Hope, Washington. According to DDG there is a real place called Hope, Washington but it is on Fox Island in the Puget Sound so it's a combination of a real name of a place but in a fictionalized setting that would be closer to central Washington. Pretty much every small town from Kelso to Olympia looks exactly like the town in First Blood.
Ya i go down to the shit hole of portland a couple times a year for business and i go through those towns and cities. I always check out the Based Uncle Sam sign at Chehalis when i go through. Nice area but id never wanna live there. I prefer eastern washington :D But some pockets still of normal people on the western side
