Because TPTB realize that if an honest election is held in 2022, Le Pen could win. Her support has risen so dramatically that they can't hide it anymore. The Machine paints her as "extremely far-right" and that might have worked for awhile, but is she "far-right" if half the country votes for her?
A shift in perspective is happening in France and all over the world. This recent vote either represents that, or (more likely) is just throwing some crumbs at the peasants to limit support for Rassemblement National.
All that said, I don't think it's really "so based".
How come France can be so based in cases like this and yet so cucked in so many others?

She most likely won last time and they cheated.
