Though that is a hope ask yourself who recovered better after WWII Germany or Russia?..... if your options are shitty and less shitty I would rather overcompensate.

That's easy: they created an identifiable image for the left and their media counterparts to smear. They tried to rely on the justice system for protection from said enemies.
