Google the Mayo Clinic in MN. Beautiful facility. Now go inside and start asking questions to some patients. How long have you been coming here, you ask. Shocked when in reply you hear "Oh, 15 years or so. We actually had to move and buy a house closer to the clinic." Then tumble down the rabbit hole as this conversation plays out across the entire facility. Not one person you speak to has been cured of anything; but they are all on 'long term medication and treatment plans.'
Chris Rock nailed it 20 years ago, and I'm paraphrasing here; "They don't want to cure you. There is no money in the cure. The money is in the medicine!"

Consultant's mantra: "There's no money in offering a solution, but you can retire off prolonging the problem!"
