I'm unaware of any American diocese that didn't roll over and quietly play dead when states illegally shuttered religious services last Spring. And then they patted themselves on the backs for lame drive-through blessings and communion and at least half of the parishes in my diocese still turn parishoners away at the door if they didn't make reservations. Reservations. I couldn't even attend Ash Wednesday because my home parish, while one of the few not requiring reservations, was too far from the office and all of the parishes around me were reservation-only.
