It's all about mind control. Big Tech wants to be Big Brother.

Nineteen Eighty-Four has become a classic literary example of political and dystopian fiction. It also popularised the term "Orwellian" as an adjective, with many terms used in the novel entering common usage, including "Big Brother", "doublethink", "Thought Police", "thoughtcrime", "Newspeak", "memory hole", "2 + 2 = 5", "proles", "Two Minutes Hate", "telescreen", and "Room 101".

"Hate crime" is a stupid concept. It sounds so similar to "thought crime" that is should give people concern. But oh well. I literally do not care at all whether someone trying to kill me is doing so because of hate or because of some other reason, I will have to defend myself the same either way.

Hate Crime = Thought Crime. Hate is a form of thought. They have to use external indicators to determine your motivation. Your motivation becomes a crime.

In the past motivation was an indication or evidence that you committed the crime. Now it IS the crime complete with its own punishment.

I remember thinking at the time they passed Hate Crime Legislation that it was a slippery slope because the definition of hate can be changed.

Here we are in 2020 and if you believe in Making America Great Again don't believe that a guy who couldn't draw a crowd big enough for a Sunday Social got 81 million votes it is hate.

They have also redefined white Supremacy to be what ever they feel at the moment.

Sorry so long, I get carried away thinking about it and it's nothing that hasn't been said before.
