A lot of libraries have stopped late fees altogether. Their reasoning is that it is time consuming and not worth it. Has nothing to do with race......just lazy people on both sides of the counter.

In my county, a photo ID is required to get a library card.

I got mine with a utility bill... which is still more secure than voting.
I had to have id,utility bill or proof of employment etc,and it gets mailed to the address on the id.

When I was in college, we had to show an ID to eat meals. Everyone, black, brown and white. Oddly, no one considered it racist.

And at our library in a small city that is 60% hispanic... To get a library card you have to show a picture of and a piece of mail or utility bill with your name and local address to prove residency... And give a local emergency contact!!! Libraries are seemingly very racist.

Lol except since covid. You can sign up for libraries. All over the country with no actual proof of residency. 90+ libraries later lol it's just as secure as our elections 😅 why do this you ask? 90+ overdrive libraries + Calibere +DeDRM.=)
