It’s likely a thread or fiber of some kind. If you watch how a worm moves it doesn’t just flail around, it starts with its head and it’s body follows. These move more like a bacteria, but those are a couple hundred times smaller than the fiber.
I’m not sure what the fiber is reacting to, could be heat from the illumination light unevenly heating the surface, which causes it to curl and uncurl, or just air movement in the room.
It’s definitely unusual though, and shoddy quality control.
