Do lots of research and look for credit unions that you can join. I've been with the same one for 20 years despite the fact they don't really serve my area. I refuse to change.
your local credit union. Do not go to any bank none of them are trustworthy. Credit unions have way better service and actually give a shit about their members. I would know I work at one. Banks are scummy as hell
Sure thing. Basically a credit union serves people within a certain radius which makes it more personal and friendly when you interact with the people who work there. If you’re into CD’s and money market accounts their rates will typically be better even though rates are very low rn. Including loans, the interest rates are lower than banks.
Pretty similar to a bank in the end game, savings, checking, sub savings if you want, debit and credit cards. Sometimes credit unions watch for fraud on your cards more than banks.
For example the credit union I work at we have a fraud department and they call the card holder asking to confirm charges. If they don’t the card will be temporarily warmed/unusable, but the people at the credit union can activate it again. People complain about it but it’s saved lots of people’s bank accounts.
Plus your local credit union won’t sell your information because you’re a trump voter like the big banks have

I have close to 0 understanding of what a credit union is. Can you give me a quick rundown understanding?
