I’m so fascinated with the fact that we all were taught about the holocaust but never taught how the Jews were targeted in the beginning . The stories in school always began at krystallnacht and the ghettos but those things don’t just occur without something prior occurring . What were the Jews blamed for ? It has to be more than “controlling money” that seems already anti Semitic , to me the anti semi roam escalated it couldn’t have just started out as “were killing Jews “?

Because it was convenient to have them portrayed as a 5th column and helped the Nazis seize power. Go look at the Ottomans who blamed their minorities for their empire collapsing and they then genocided a shit ton of Armenians before being reorganized into a modern state, Turkey. Jews, like Armenians in Turkey were despised, because they tended to have better jobs and were disproportionately represented in higher income professions. You can see the same thing with many genocides like in Nigeria with the peoples in the Biafran War, where the most successful and businessminded people in Nigeria were slaughtered and even today they are discriminated due to their economic success, even though they're black too.
