Even before the plandemic, it became clear to me the following:

There seems to be people who seek positions of business owner (in the above case) or management. These people are more interested in swinging their authority around in people's faces, then running a business.

Many stores, mostly high end ones, operate at a total loss. They are businesses for the wives of rich people to run.

It's the same for any position of power. Most website moderators want to throw the little bit of power they have around which us why reddit went to hell. Politicians cant leave us alone etc.
