Never heard of the thumb print but they do keep a pretty good record of who brings scrap metal in because some people are willing to steal metal objects and turn them into the scrap yard for cash.
Years back I worked for a scrap company and while I was there meth heads tried to sell us the high school bleachers and the virgin Mary they stole from the local church. They all got arrested. There was a dock where they loaded scrap on ships, and they would come up in the night with little meth boats and load up with metal then sell it to us the next morning.
Bleachers must be an in the know thing bc ive heard of them being stolen for scrap. Its insane where i live as Ive had to bond out for <30mph speeding yet non-whites can drive mini trucks with 60 stolen bikes piled 20ft high non-secured and cops won't bat an eye.
Keep in mind, this is to protect the scrap yard from inadvertently accepting stolen shit. They were made accountable, that's why they are enforcing it. Same thing needs to happen to voting. If a county is complicit in counting votes that are fraudulent the county needs to be made accountable. Even if they didn't know.
it's true, and they also stopped giving cash when it's below I think $100. when you get the paperwork of the tare weight of the recycles that's what they have you put your thumb print on. You turn that in another window to be cashed out. It's really secure and I can see why.
