Saviour of the World. Not one soul will be denied the Kingdom of God if they repent their sin (In my case that's a whole heap) and truly believe. No Christian should ever be silent because the secular world despises the teachings of the Nazarene.

What is so wonderful about our faith is those early followers were all such flawed men. Reprobates. Sinners all. Raised up by Jesus and responsible for spreading the Gospel far and wide. If Saul of Tarsus could be saved, so can can we.

Blessings to you on this wonderful day!

Ahhhh easter - that time of year where christians from everywhere get together and prove they can't count to 3 except through leftist worthy mental gymnastics.

The same people who spend every other day coming here to complain about the system, today put on full display them holding onto the made up system of man which actually disqualifies jesus as the messiah......

Edit: to whomever down voted this please read Matthew 12:40 and then tell me how good friday to easter fits.

It's sad and pathetic that you make fun of people for being ignorant, indoctrinated and stupid while doing the exact same thing in your doctrine you believe.

Be a kind person and you'll be less judgemental.

When we judge ourselves, that's when we turn around and judge others, so we can deflect our own self hatred because it hurts.

The best thing to do is to be kind even when people tell us we can't count. Lol This person is having a rough day and I will pray that Jesus visits this person and tells them that they don't have to be angry about their opinion to where they put other people down.

People have hurtful opinions and that's life. It doesn't mean they don't matter or that anger in return will help. The only thing that changes pain and hate is....LOVE. Love people even when you don't enjoy them. We are all from God and we are all learning. We are HUMAN!

Oh and 1....2.....?? Maybe I'd know this if schools weren't closed!

anishr 2 points ago +2 / -0

“Be a kind person and you’ll be less judgemental” Do you even hear yourself? In this very thread you have someone (presumably thinking he is Christian) saying “it’s a sin to be a faggot”. Is that kind? You also have someone with the username “durkadurka”. Is that kind? Sorry but everything you say is bullshit until I see you respond this way to unkindness that is popular.

You didn’t even answer his main question and responded like a robot ignoring the main point.

“When we judge ourselves, that's when we turn around and judge others, so we can deflect our own self hatred because it hurts.” So why don’t you respond this way when a Black dude is shooting up your neighborhood?

Truth doesn't care about your theology. Seriously - how do you get 3 days and 3 nights from Friday to Sunday?

Even using a Jewish day it actually gets worse for you.

Friday @ sundown to Saturday @ sundown = 1 day

Keep in mind Matthew 12:40 is in the red texts.

Also, if the markets are closed on Saturday for sabbath how did the women go and buy the spices for his body?

There actually is an answer but the answer is basically that the church presents a Christ that is a lie and is today, still the man made bull crap that Jesus came to abolish.

Maybe.... Just maybe the church teaches you a lie regarding easter and you still believe it because it's easier. It's hypocrisy at is finest.

-1
Damadhatter -1 points ago +2 / -3

Yeah that's v usually the response that leftists give as well when they don't have an answer to something.

I'm not saying Jesus isn't the Messiah. I'm saying that the church teaches a Jesus who disqualifies himself from being the Messiah by not fulfilling the 3 days and nights that HE himself gave as the way he would show he was the Messiah.

If Jesus really died on Friday and rose on Sunday then he can't be the Messiah.

Seek truth rather than doctrine.

8
unaor 8 points ago +8 / -0

to whomever down voted this please read Matthew 12:40 and then tell me how good friday to easter fits.

Jesus was using the Jewish method of counting days, not the modern method. For the record the wine they were drinking then was not strong like most modern wines and the bread they were easting was not leavened like most modern bread. Times were different then, and you being ignorant of history and the customs of the time doesn't make others ignorant, only you.

0
Damadhatter 0 points ago +3 / -3

Ok - show me the Jewish form of counting days that still gets to 3 days and 3 nights...

I'll wait.

Edit: I'm aware of how they count days.

I'll let you choose any calendar you want to to get Matthew 12:40 (which is the red texts) to fit into your idea of Friday to Sunday morning easter

The ramifications of the way christians celebrate easter is that by celebrating it this way, you are teaching a Christ that is disqualified from being the Messiah.

And you guys wonder why no one takes the church seriously anymore and membership is in the toilet. Try getting some facts right about the single most important part of the theology rather than diddling kids or worrying about what flavors to put in the coffee bar.

You are missing the High Day Sabbath on Thursday. Tuesday Jesus celebrated Passover, went to the mountain to pray, was arrested overnight. Wednesday, trial and crucifixion Thursday, High Day - Yearly holiday Friday - the women go to the market to buy spices for embalming his body. Saturday -Weekly Sabbath Sunday - Christ is risen.

1
Damadhatter 1 point ago +1 / -0

This is the correct answer with the high day being an additional sabbath. I'm pointing out that the way it is taught in every christian church is complete nonsense and many of them have been in church their entire life and never even bothered to count the days.

Jesus was born a Jew, the son of Mary, King David, Judah, Jacob, etc. Sure they rejected Him and most do to this day, but they all still God’s chosen people and He will never give up on them and neither must we. Jesus is their promised Messiah and fulfills all prophecy. When Jesus comes back, as prophesied in their own text by the prophet Zechariah, they will look “ on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn.”

I've read the entire Bible through several times thank you very much. Read Romans 11. "I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew."

Repenting of sin is not a condition of salvation.

25
unaor 25 points ago +25 / -0

Jesus disagrees

-23
durkadurka -23 points ago +1 / -24

So you’ve repented from all sins? Did you miss any? What happens if you sin again, not saved now?

Salvation is not about what you do, it’s about believing God plan of salvation by faith alone.

18
ShadeCat 18 points ago +18 / -0

Umm I think you need to re-read the Bible because last I checked Christ died to forgive all sins. Not just ones that are convenient to certain peoples ideals.

4
ERansom 4 points ago +5 / -1

I am reformed so I get where you are going here. Sola Gratia and Sola Fide don’t cancel the need to recognize yourself as a sinner or that your inclination and nature is to sin. It also doesn’t mean to act like Luther in the monastery and attempt to repent for every sin; something Staupitz admonished him for. There is a a difference between the Roman system of penance (which many Americans are unknowingly still attached to) and repenting of yourself as a sinner and trusting in the work or Christ. Im not sure we should argue without everyone understanding what we are really arguing about.

3
ShadeCat 3 points ago +4 / -1

Jesus in Luke 13:2-5 :

"And Jesus responded and said to them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans just because they have suffered this fate? 3 No, I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. 4 Or do you think that those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them were worse offenders than all the other people who live in Jerusalem? 5 No, I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”"

But I'm sure you know Jesus's commands better than Jesus, lmao.

Do you not feel guilt? Serious question?

People eat themselves alive with guilt and many take their own lives because people tell them things like "You aren't forgiven and there is no hope for you!" Essentially that seems to be the message.

In that case, your outlook is cruel. To condemn anyone forever when GOD DOES FORGIVE THEM, is not a good look. It keeps the cycle of addiction going for so many. If there is never a way to overcome your past mistakes then why be a good person?

For anyone reading that salvation isn't attainable, know that it is complete bullshit! God forgives us faster than we can ask because he knows what is on our heart and when we are sincere. We don't need a priest or to do backflips while reading the Bible in order for us to be freed from our sins.

That's why today is so important. Even if it's most likely not the correct day that Jesus rose, it still symbolizes what he did for us so we can recieve forgiveness. He gave us the greatest gift.

2
durkadurka 2 points ago +2 / -0

"You aren't forgiven and there is no hope for you!"

Where did this come from me saying that repenting of sin is not a condition of salvation?

1
Ipray4potus 1 point ago +1 / -0

Is the main condition

1
durkadurka 1 point ago +2 / -1

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Do you know what a gift is? Does someone earn a gift? Do you think there's something you can do to receive the gift of grace?

I know you really want to be the one that earns salvation but it just doesn't work that way. It did before Christ died on the cross, it was works and faith but now it's faith alone.

I was going to eat at McDonalds but I repented and went to Wendy's instead.

Repent is a change of mind or turning to something else.

When Jesus told people to repent, he was saying you need to turn away from your false religion and follow God.

Humility would serve you well.

Stay focused, remain faithful, and fight the good fight! Happy Easter my friends!

Thank you for those kind words, they ring true. It's especially true since my family and I came here (legally) from a former communist Romania in 89, and we know full-well from experience, the horrors and abomination that communism leads to-- degenerates, hateful bigots (the actual kind, not just the twisted, meaningless kind that leftists here constantly preach) and it's perplexing, sad, and frightening all in one package, to see these young, inexperienced, downright brainwashed kids willingly employing communist tactics and propaganda.

They act like they know better than actual people who have LIVED through Ceausescu, learned about what suppression actually is, and escaped that life. I love America for what it is, and it's an utter disgrace to see it slowly becoming exactly the same, taking the same path that led to the downfall of communism in my country. What really grinds my gears is them telling ME that I don't know what I'm talking about, that they know better.

I'm sorry, I could write an entire book on this, but in the end, rest assured, it ALWAYS fails. The big difference here in America is that we have the privilege of having other based immigrants that also have experience and will fight these demons to the death. America will NEVER become a socialist country, and we have 200 million angry legal Americans who believe in God, the 2nd amendment, and will do whatever it takes to protect this way of life. Happy Easter, God bless you and your family, and God Bless AMERICA.

You do not have to jump into the deep end, it is a discipline, like working out. If I told you that the only way to work out was to start with an Iron Man, you would never start! There are much smaller fasts on Wednesday and Friday of almost every week that help train you for Lent. Do not, I repeat, do not start fasting for Lent as if it is commandment! It will make you miserly and fill you with hate. Just some words of encouragement, that is all. Speak to your spiritual father about it. God Bless!

Elias 12 points ago +12 / -0

**The Paschal Homily of Saint John Chrysostom Is there anyone here who is a devout lover of God? Let them enjoy this beautiful bright festival. Is there anyone who is a grateful servant? Let them rejoice and enter into the joy of their Lord! Are there any now weary with fasting? Let them now receive their wages! If they have toiled from the first hour, let them receive their due reward; If any have come after the third hour, let him with gratitude join in the Feast! And he that arrived after the sixth hour, let him not doubt; for he shall have sustained no loss. And if any have delayed until the ninth hour, let him not hesitate; but let him come too. And he who arrived only at the eleventh hour, let him not be afraid by reason of his delay. For the Lord is gracious and receives the last even as the first. He gives rest to him who comes at the eleventh hour, as well as to him who toiled from the first. To this one He gives, and upon another He bestows. He accepts the work as he greets the endeavor. The deed He honors and the intention He commends. Let us all enter into the joy of the Lord! First and last alike receive your reward; rich and poor, rejoice together! Sober and slothful, celebrate the day! You that have kept the fast, and you that have not, rejoice today for the Table is richly laden! Feast royally on it, the calf is a fatted one. Let no one go away hungry; partake, all, of the cup of faith. Enjoy all the riches of His goodness! Let no one grieve at his poverty, for the universal kingdom has been revealed. Let no one mourn that he has fallen again and again; for forgiveness has risen from the grave. Let no one fear death, for the death of our Savior has set us free. He has destroyed it by enduring it. He destroyed Hades when he descended into it. He put it into an uproar even as it tasted of His flesh. Isaiah foretold this when he said, You, O Hell, have been troubled by encountering Him below. Hell was in an uproar because it was done away with. It was in an uproar, because it was mocked. It was in an uproar, for it was destroyed. It is in an uproar, for it is annihilated. It is in an uproar because it is now made captive. Hell took a body, and it discovered God. It took earth, and encountered Heaven. It took what it saw, and was overcome by what it did not see. O death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory? Christ is risen, and you, O death, are annihilated! Christ is risen, and the evil ones are cast down! Christ is risen, and the angels rejoice! Christ is risen, and life is liberated! Christ is risen, and the tomb is emptied of its dead; for Christ, having risen from the dead, is become the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep. To Him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen!

What a Joy to read these words... truly wondrous. It touched my heart deeply. Ours is the only faith that recognises the fallen state of mankind and offers the lost and faithless the same chance to live everlastingly as the most pious. The Disciples were to a man, deeply flawed and sinful. Through faith in Jesus each was elevated and most would after his resurrection evangelise far and wide. No one is denied the chance to live eternally through Christ Jesus.

You made my Easter Sunday so special with your post. Ad Christum Fidelis

The Greek Easter greeting.... so nice to see Christians from all over sharing here today. Almost no trolls although there are the usual tired old anti Christian types dropping by to share their (coughs) wisdom with us. Are you currently in Greece or of Greek parentage? I love Greece, especially the Islands. I've travelled to so many over the years. Greek culture and the Orthodox Church so influential and important.

6
deathbymonty 6 points ago +6 / -0

Traditional Latin Mass guy, but me and my Deus Vult buddies all use the Greek greeting as it is one of, if not the, most ancient. I have traveled through Greece but not nearly as extensively as I would like to. May God grant me the ability to take my family and make that happen sometime!

If you haven’t been to a traditional latin Easter Vigil, treat yourself sometime. 3 1/2 hours long because it includes the 12 most important prophecies of Christ’s necessity and coming — it’s like a Bible lesson, choir concert, and Easter kickoff all rolled into one.

God bless you, Christ is Risen!

The Greek influence and importance in the earliest Hebrew Greek translations of the Bible cannot be understated! It seems I'm being guided toward the Orthodox by unseen hands (Praise God) I hope to attend service some day.

I pray you get to visit the Greek Islands some day. The very far south of Crete is utterly unspoiled. A tiny fishing there called Plakias is my place of total peace. I've stayed there regularly since the mid 80's. Also Naxos island is stunningly beautiful. Greeks are fiercely Christian and in the islands there are Monastery's aplenty. I have great memories of visiting a mountain top monastery in Preveli a few miles from Plakias. The Monks were welcoming but also very Orthodox observant.

FreedomFromGovt 2 points ago +2 / -0

Orthodox Easter isn't until next month, May 2. The term isn't appropriate in this context. The Orthodox follow the old, imperial Julian calendar on the fixing of the Pascha, rather than the 16th C. Catholic-sponsored Gregorian calendar. Easter is calculated to take place "on the first first Sunday that follows the paschal full moon, which is the full moon that falls on or after the spring equinox". The initiator of the greeting says: 'Χριστός Ανέστη!' ('Christos Anesti' or, 'Christ is Risen!') anytime after midnight, Easter morning, and the responder replies: 'Aληθώς ανέστη!' ('Alithos Anesti' or, 'Indeed, He is Risen!').

For calculation purposes, the Council of Nicaea declared that the full moon is always set on the 14th day of the lunar month. (The lunar month begins with the new moon.) This is called the ecclesiastical full moon; the astronomical full moon may fall a day or so before or after the ecclesiastical full moon.

Historically, however, the events of Easter took place during the Jews' celebration of Passover. The Last Supper took place on Thursday evening "Maundy Thursday"; the arrest and Crucifixion on Friday during Passover in which families sacrifice a lamb, called the pasoch in Hebrew; and then, the Resurrection took place on Sunday. For Christians, Jesus became the symbolic sacrifice, or pasoch. By a strange coincidence, the Greek word for deep feeling, passion or suffering is πάσχω, or pascho (pronounced 'pasko').

He's been so good to me brother Pede. Stayed by my side through 25 years of drug addiction when I thought I was more important than he was (or heroin and cocaine were my Gods) He finally released me 24 years ago aged 40 when I asked his help humbly after realising I was on my last chance and my 9th life. What is so utterly amazing to me is I wasn't punished by God I was cured by God... I'm forever in his debt.

Have a blessed Easter Fren

Yep, and to all the non believers out there we actually care about you and want to fix things but multinational billionaires/Chyna have decided your better off as a person without your own money, free speech, protection or any basic rights. Think about it and dump team evil

God Bless, Happy Easter, Christ is ARISEN !! We had a wonderful Easter service, took our traditional church pictures at the church alter, NO MASKS.

1
strictly1957 [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Joyous news.... Christ defeated the cross and our faith in him protects us. The mask is symbol of control and compliance. One I have not worn even a single time since the Covid farce began. God bless you and your Church elders for refusing the muzzle. We have the strength of Lions tour Saviour the son of God gifted us. Live in his light always Fren.

Everyone is a little bit correct in this thread. I will try to unite us...

Easter is totally pagan and was a celebration of the fertility goddess Ester. That's where the eggs and rabbits come from. As christianity spread across europe, it was easier to convert people if they could keep doing the things they liked to do. They just made the local customs about Jesus. The Jewish calendar was based on the phases of the moon, so the anniversary of Jesus' death and resurrection was actually last week.

Jesus is the only begotten Son of the Almighty who gave up his heavenly position to become the second perfect human man. Unlike Adam, who failed and condemned us all to death, Jesus went through everything imaginable without sin. Because he was killed, divine justice owes him an earth full of perfect children. He will adopt us and make us perfect if we have faith in him and agree that only the Almighty should rule.

God took on the corrupt disgusting self serving swamp before anyone else. They knew He was God yet betrayed Him for earthly gain.

The miracle of all our Saviour's miracles... the Resurrection. The defeat of death itself and our gift to join Him in heaven and to live life in light for all eternity. Praise Jesus. King of Kings.

““He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:24‬ ‭NIV‬‬ Hope in our defeats

So nicely stated.... and that is the core of Christian faith. Thank you for outlining so smartly. We all have hope because of the son of God's sacrifice. Praise Jesus!

Christ ain't white. Middle Eastern chap I'm told.

Angerisagift 10 points ago +10 / -0

His mother is Jewish. As for paternal genetics, divine. Paul Newman was half Jewish. Fighting about Jesus' appearance is really missing the message.

3
bubadmt 3 points ago +3 / -0

What difference does it make? God is Christ, and may he be portrayed as white, Jewish, middle-eastern, or black, Christ is Christ. We know all we know from the scripture, and that doesn't change just because of skin tone. Also, most people who claim he is black are reddit edgecucks who try to one-up true believers by trolling them, but to them I say, if that's what they think, more power to you, as God is inside us all, and their pathetic little attempts to pretzel our brain and perceptions are about as useless as ANTIFA trying to grown a garden in CHAZ.

The western world was entering the medieval "post realism" era in which art wasn't expected to look like its subject; instead, it became symbolic and representational, partly because of the decline of ancient scientific rationalism and partly due to the influence of Islam's growing power in the East.

In Islam, there came to be a prohibition against the depiction of the material world in art (and the more zealous the sect, the more abstract and thorough the prohibition, to include animal and plant life). To counteract Islam's gains, the Christian world became prohibitionist, too. It was known as the 'Iconoclast Movement', and involved breaking and burning of all ecclesiastical statuary and portraiture.

Since the Orthodox Christians were closer to the Islamic world, the Iconoclast controversy was solved by the retention of 2-dimensional representations, together with a complete ban on 3-D sculptures (because they could be interpreted as pagan idols of worship).

Meanwhile, in the farther-away Catholic realms of the west, 3-D statuary was retained (Virgin Mary and saints statues became a cottage industry). Yet, throughout Christendom, 2-D art itself became flat and devoid of depth and, in general, became very stylized and almost 'cartoonish' in its abstraction.
