Physical checks delay this by days, plus there is lots of room for transcription errors in written-to-digital conversion of the payee name, date, etc.

but they're not nearly as useful to the data miners and control freaks as electronic payment methods.
I don't see much of a difference. Once they are scanned in at the clearing houses, they basically are electronic payment methods.
