Poland here. We can own blackpowder guns made before 1885 and their replicas without background checks etc. You have to register it on Police department to have a permit to buy blackpowder but there are loopholes. You can receive it as a present for example from someone who has permit and gov can do jack shit about it.
There are also regular firearms owners. It's easy for hunters (a year of hunter scholarship, tests etc) then you have a green light... to apply for a permit. Non-hunters also can apply but it's quite harsh "may-issue". There is about a quarter million gun permits here and (total hip shot approx here) maybe a million guns here, for approx 40 million people - not counting police guns and gov owned guns in general.
Poland is doing a lot to secure the freedom of its people but you guys have to work on this. As an American I can buy a Polish made AK-47 but you are deprived of your god given right of self defense.
We're not fully deprived. It's kinda hard to get a permit, but it's possible. We can also have blackpowder arms made before 1885 or replicas of them without background checks etc. About to get Remington 1858 this year. It's better than nothing.
If you have to jump through enough hoops in order to obtain a weapon to properly defend yourself/your family with where it becomes just not worth it, I'd say that's pretty deprived.
That sucks. My friend literally bought 2 AR-15s at the local gunshow yesterday here in Texas (USA). It was his first time buying any firearms and the background check took about 2 seconds from when they entered his info in the computer. And I'm still pissed off because even that is an ENORMOUS violation of our Constitution.
As far as I know from friends in police, lawyers, and internet
You can! You can't carry them in means of public transport or, I don't know, big market or any "public venue" like a big shop or anything. But as long as you're on foot on the street or traveling by car they can do jack shit. Knives, sword even, are easier to carry, so if you want to be "strapped" 24/7 and you go where you can't have a gun, leave it in a car and take your knife or trusty sabre with you 😂
Using it for self defense will likely land you in trouble but I guess if it's an extreme case beyond reasonable doubt (that you HAD to use it) a good lawyer might get you out of this shit.
Kind of off topic, but I’m just curious, what kind of hunting do y’all mostly do? Here in the southeastern u.s. , as far as big game, it’s mainly white tailed deer, or wild hogs.
Similar, deer and boar. Honestly not much else to hunt, maybe fox. Killing a bear or żubr (European bison, an animal we're quite fond of here) will mostly likely land you in prison, protected species. But I'm not much of hunter (yet?) so I can't tell you much more
I read that Austria, Swiss, and germany allow gun ownership but it's a process to own them, and you cant carry them around like a CCW. Austria I believe was the most "lax" in europe. I could be wrong and be mixing them up with another country.
Not having inner city ghettos or wide open borders allows this happen without seeing a massive spike in crime. Sort of how people outside the US think we are running around shooting each other up everywhere. Reality is, 85% of the gun deaths come from shithole blue cities and mainly black on black crime.
will Europe ever figure out that a armed people are a Free people....it's going to get bad over here but Freedom is so worth fighting for

With everything Poland has dealt with the last 70 years you’d think they’d issue an AK out of the womb.

If you need a permit ...
So can you carry 1860 Army revolver without permit?

Sucks, but sounds better than communism.
So they, what, just expect you to roll over and die?

know a m8 who's into that shit, he says it's mostly deer and such.
Wild hogs are mostly avoided since it's a bother to make sure their meat is edible, what with how prone to being infested with parasites it is.
The Kosciusko was a giveaway on the Polish.
Unless you live in Mississippi, USA 😅

Switzerland is the most lax maybe in the whole wide world. They basically REQUIRE men to learn how to use guns.

And schutzenfests are a thing.
