Not for ownership. Only laws are restrictions in cities. The city I live in you can't shoot anything including air soft or sling shots. My guess is years of dead birds and broken windows made that happen.
Hunting restrictions are based on caliber and power levels. Many states allow deer hunting with airguns. There are no restrictions on carrying an air gun anywhere I know about.
Yup exactly. Among the states that allow airgun hunting they tend to allow .22 & .25 for small game and .30 or .35/.45+ for larger game. I think Texas for example regulates it by FPE but generally that's about equal to a good 22LR rifle at about 215FPE and there's myriad airgun options that exceed or even far exceed that. (especially those AirForce guns made in Texas I think they do 800FPE+ in certain configurations)
Some places have restrictions on carrying rifles out in the open airgun or not, town ordinances.
Pyramyd Air has an interactive state by state map with the hunting regulations. You can probably guess which states are "cool" before you even click.
Look up the history of the Lewis and Clark airgun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DofQ7DhjSqs
Quite a few laws regulate them.
