This would be like Coca-Cola coming out and saying “with all the opiate deaths in the news, we didn’t feel it was right to keep a name that is derived from cocaine.”
WHO THE FUCK CARES?? They gave up so much brand goodwill with this idiotic change the company is basically worthless now. All so they could virtue-signal to idiots.
To those who aren’t up on your marketing speak, “goodwill” is company value that can’t be quantified. When you think “Aunt Jemima” or “Coca-Cola,” or even “Trump,” there’s a whole lot of mental imagery, ideas and feelings you get when you think of that brand. They spend billions of dollars annually to put all this stuff in your head, so when you think “maple syrup” you automatically think “Aunt Jemima.”
“Pearl Milling Company” just shitcanned decades of that. Whoever made this decision shouldn’t just be fired, they should be personally liable for the drop in shareholder value from this brain-dead move.
These people are massive idiots.

Yep, that's how Make from State Farm fell apart for me. The tone of the skit changed and it wasn't funny anymore.
