Sadly the gunsmith who did those conversions, I think his name was Mcann, died several years ago. I dont know of anyone still doing them atleast in any other capacity than a one off thing here and there. I think getting the timing right on the OP-rod is the main problem and is quite a pain.
I bought a 458 socom after watching a video of it shooting through a cement block wall... Took three shots with brass bullets... But it tore the wall up.
All I have to say is OW all around with that. Kind of makes sense though as every M1 Garand I ever picked up was heavy as heck so I can see it taking that size of round. I wonder if you'd ever hear the ping or if it would be more of a BONG or KLANG to handle those?
It will shoot, but the increased pressure will cycle the action harder that it was manufactured to handle. My understanding is that it can lead to a failure.
There are a few videos with people much more informed than I am breaking it down on YouTube, even bust out the high speed cameras. Seems you can get an adjustable gas plug, then pretty much shoot anything safely. You can set up your gun to just have enough gas to cycle, but actually reduce the kickback to make it smoother shooting than out of the box.
That's fucking stupid.
I'll take two.
You have 2 shoulders
I'm tensing up just looking at that shell.
What's the name of the company? Asking for a friend in case Biden asks...
Ouch, that should read 'fuck my shoulder and the six shoulders behind me'.

Rip.
There is still 45/70 and 458 socom.

What is an OP-rod?
Operating rod
When you have to fight an army of elephants.
I am waiting for one to be made in 700 Nitro Mag.
The ultimate in commie slaying technology.
I'll take one
WHY IS THERE NO LINK YET???
DROOL!

Man, I'm shocked that a company still produces newly manufactured M1 rifles.. I would buy one in .308 or 30-06 any day..
Maybe its a specialized weapon, for top tier bodybuilders only?
Also fuck your receiver, make sure you get the gas pressures right so you don't blow up the action.
This happens to people who shoot modern 30.06 and not the M1 Ball ammo it was originally designed for. Plenty of fix options out there, have fun!
Sooooo....AP 30-06 out of my Winchester model 94 is a no go??

“I would like to fire .50BMG from a Garand, but not be .50BMG.” ~ OP
“We got you fam.” ~ .458 Winmag.
That reminds me. Sheetrock walls are not cover. Shoot as though it is not there.
