A lot of diabetics have gone off of insulin, effectively curing their diabetes by going to a high fat low carb diet. I had a roommate years ago who's parents did it. They each lost over 100 lbs and no longer needed to use insulin.

Keto rocks. Not a diabetic, but I dropped 90lbs I gained after breaking a bunch of bones (hip/back) and resultant surgeries and it was easy as hell. Didn't even work out much back then. The weight flew off and I got to eat ribeye steaks everyday. 15-20lbs per month.

I did keto for a year and was actually the inspiration for her parents to try it out. I went from thin to built in like 3 months, workout stayed the same. My doctor at the VA was so impressed with it that he asked for my diet and started recommending it to other patients. Sugar inflames the body. It's fine if you're only taking in enough carbs to serve as fuel but once your body starts storing them en masse as fat you get all kinds of health issues.

Sugar is literally poison without insulin, if it's not burned immediately or converted to fat quickly it will kill you. With the exception of beer I try to have no carbs after lunch and that's probably the next best thing to going full keto again for me

I just can't keep going for too long with it, now I just keep my sugar and carbs as low as I can and it's a HUGE difference.

Yep! I essentially went full carnivore on the food so I could have a few beers during the week. I do miss bread and pasta, but not so much the taste as the "chew". Haven't felt this great in years and two cool side affects I noticed. I'm sharper mentally, not smarter but sharper and the other is my usual afternoon crash after eating lunch. I don't crash anymore, just a bunch of energy through the day. It's pretty obvious when you look at it. Eating like we were designed to eat when we were hunter/gatherers. It's how we evolved for eons before we became an agrarian society in the very recent past.

If you're missing some of the "bread" type things, look into using almond or other nut meals/flours and cauliflower. It's not the best replacement but healthy and delicious with low carbs

I used keto for a short term weight loss, but gave it up when I hit my target.

(Also, I think Keto practicioners are as insufferable as crossfitters and vegans.)

It's a means to an end for me. 10 more lbs to go. I don't preach it and I couldn't care less what anyone else does. I was just amazed at the results and how easy they came.

Yeah I lost the weight quickly and appreciate it for that. It's the weirdos who always have to make sure everyone knows that they're keto and meal-prepping (and microwaving shit-reeking broccoli every fucking day). Ugh.

Absolutely true.

I recommend people do keto just so they can get a very clear experience as to why sugar and carbs are literal poison when eaten in the slightest of excess.

I stopped consuming gluten and raised my meat intake, and I became a beast in strength and endurance.

I miss the cereal and milk propaganda. Break a bone? You didn't drink enough milk. Feeling hungry at 10 am you didnt eat enough cereal.

2
Gnometard 2 points ago +2 / -0

Well, milk thing is kind of true. You do need calcium and vitamin D to build strong teeth and bones. Calcium and Vitamin D are nearly useless without enough of the other. My mom is a breast cancer survivor and her doctors have her doing bone density tests. After a year on calcium and vitamin D supplements her bone density has improved.

Does it have to come from milk? Nah. If you like milk, definitely drink it tho. Whole milk. Drinking skim milk is gayer than gay.

I have type one so that won’t work for me, but I can tell you that a low carb high fat diet makes my sugars much more manageable.

I've been eating many eggs every day for years, and still no diabetes. What am I doing wrong?

WhitePowerRanger 7 points ago +7 / -0

You’re only supposed to eat one

Please listen to the scientists and experts because it is evidence based on the latest availability science that is supported by the evidence. We were going to run out of oil, new ice age, and the maldives underwater by the year 2000. The latest available science changed everything to 2020 but now it will happen in 9 years before the new available science that the evidence hasn't been made up yet.

1970's. "We will be in a new ice age by the year 2000".

Ice age avoided? Maybe we should be thanking that dude driving an F-350 diesel for global warming!

Conservativechick 6 points ago +6 / -0

I always point out that "experts" said that people should eat margarine instead of butter for decades. How many people died of heart disease from listening to the "experts?"

6
HeavenlyTrumpets 6 points ago +6 / -0

That's all of them.

Actual science says it's obvious that this is all a big nothing, or certainly close to nothing.

AK_Tree_Frog 5 points ago +5 / -0

Awesome book called deep nutrition wich talks alot about emulating traditional eating patterns- meat on bone, organ meats and marrow, sprouted grains, and fresh vegetables that are not overcooked.

3
Anime_titty_expert 3 points ago +3 / -0

Vegetables are pretty interesting since some are better raw and some are better cooked. Me personally? I eat em however they taste best!

ChilledCovfefe 5 points ago +5 / -0

This is a great example! Basically science is bought and paid for like anything. Whatever brings some sort of profit or kickback is the “science” of the day or week.

projectarcturus1 2 points ago +2 / -0

I don't listen to any of them and eat what I want. I love fresh, home cooked meals and eggs are part of my diet. These people peddle bullshit for a living to get clicks.

2
redditbiggay 2 points ago +2 / -0

They're is a zero. zero. zero. percent chance that eating eggs will give you diabetes. What a fucking retarded headline.

3
x-irradiance 3 points ago +3 / -0

Just wait till it turns into a chicken. Then it’s healthy, just not the skin 🙄

2
PraiseBeToScience 2 points ago +2 / -0

The "science" of eggs my whole life is why I think nutritionists are retards making shit up.

2
TheLivingExample 2 points ago +2 / -0

Once again, MSM conveniently omits any details about brown eggs.

whomurderedepstein 1 point ago +1 / -0

Don't want diabetes? Eat a whole foods planet based diet instead of a diet center around refined sugars, refined grains, meats, dairy and oil.

1
56peasants 1 point ago +1 / -0

The egg controversy has been going on for decades. I dont care what they say im still eating 10+ eggs a week. Ill fry em in olive oil if it will do me any favors but thats it.

1
koyima 1 point ago +1 / -0

How can eggs cause Diabetes? Sugar is a plant, there are just traces of sugar in an egg. There is 13x more protein and 11x more fat in an egg.

Article 2 is surely bullshit, you don't become diabetic with 1 gram of sugar

1
Need4Pede 1 point ago +1 / -0

I fucking love eggs. I eat a dozen a week. I also like the animals that poop them out. I eat them allot too. As did all the generations before me. So fuck "science" on this one.
