I've been wondering about this a lot recently. If I were to ever have a son whether I would get him circumcised or not. I am, but I also recognize that jews invented it even though my family is Christian. What are your guys thoughts? Is there benefits to both options, or what.

I didn't circumcise my son. He was born at home in the most peaceful way you can imagine. No way was I going to take him to busy hospital to have pointless pain administered to him after that. I hope he's glad of how he turned out. Two out of my 3 husbands were "un" so I have no negative connotations about it. Don't do it. Natural is better.

2 out of your 3 husbands.... oh ok...

The first one was a "starter" marriage and doesn't count.

ANTI

Genital mutilation is barbaric and degenerate. Period.

Circumcision is not at all like female genital mutilation. That's a myth. Totally different.

cnn_can_dox_my_balls 6 points ago +7 / -1

Are the genitals mutilated? Yes they are. Is it done for religious or fashion reasons? Yes it is. Is it necessary or beneficial? Not it’s not. Does it remove sensitive tissue? Yes it does. Does it lead to diminished sexual function or sensitivity? Yes it does.

Genital mutilation is barbaric. Who in their right mind would look at a perfect new baby boy and say, “you know what, honey? we should cut off part of his penis. Wouldn’t that be awesome? I’ll go get a scalpel, you strap him down”. Insanity.

DeadOverRed 1 point ago +2 / -1

Is it done for religious reason? Only for Jews. Is it beneficial? There is some evidence that it is. Does it lead to diminished sexual function? No.

It's skin, not exactly "part of his penis." If your child were born with webbed fingers, would you leave it? You sound like a lunatic.

That's provably false. Totally different. Do some research. https://www.center4research.org/circumcision-health-benefits-risks/

Say what you want, but if Jesus was circumcised, which he was as a Jew along with millions of other Jews over the century, that's good enough for me.

There is no research showing that male circumcision is harmful. Female circumcision is misnamed because it is female mutilation. Male Circumcision is just cutting away a piece of skin that is on top the penis, while female genital mutilation is cutting a portion of the actual female sex organ off.

I've no problem with people being against male circumcision, but to conflate this as similar to the barbaric practices of female circumcision makes us look stupid.

Most men seem to prefer whatever they are (circumsised or not).

However some circumsized seem to wish they weren't, and some parents regret doing it.

I've never heard of an uncircumsized person wishing they were, on the other hand.

Personally I think it's not at all applicable to Christians and kind of a barbaric thing to do to a baby.

2
Kekmanchoo [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

While I agree with the first part, I have known at least 2 people who had to get circumcised as an adult due to pain caused from their foreskin.

2
xrp_moon_shot 2 points ago +2 / -0

not a story I usually like to tell... lol... but when I was younger a small portion of it was kind of "stuck" to the lower part of one side of the dick head.

Doctors said not to worry it should come apart in time. I think it was totally normal by around age 6 and it never bothered me before then anyway.

Were the people who had adult pain jacking off constantly and using WD-40 for lube? That sounds like something that shouldn't just happen on it's own at an adult age.

I have, I was in a barracks with a bunch of guys and a couple talked about getting it done, one went on to do it, because sex was painful for him. He never regretted it.

SpaceTiger 3 points ago +3 / -0

I personally am cut - I don’t think my parents knew much about it other than it was socially expected. My children, however, are not.

1
Kekmanchoo [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Was keeping it clean for them as children easy? Have they had any issues?

1
SpaceTiger 1 point ago +1 / -0

My oldest boys are in their teens now, and it’s never been a problem. I was worried about it because heck I’ve never had to maintain it under the hood so to speak. It doesn’t seem to take extra work, if that’s what you mean.

Pro. Every health practice done by the Jews have been proven effective.

https://www.center4research.org/circumcision-health-benefits-risks/

People on here who think male circumcision is mutilation equivalent to female genital mutilation are ignorant. Female mutilation is associated with horrible medical outcomes, Circumcision is removing excess skin that has nothing to do with functionality practiced for centuries without any evidence of medical issues.

There is no loss in sexual pleasure, what's underneath of the removed flap has plenty of sensory perception on it...

2
xrp_moon_shot 2 points ago +3 / -1

I don't think anyone is arguing female genital mutilation is way worse.

Still a traumatic event for a baby to undergo.

3
AlphaOmegaAZ 3 points ago +3 / -0

I think it’s mainly just a smegma (dick cheese)thing.

Christ's death and resurrection is the new covenant. It is not necessary. Having said that, I had my son circumcised, as my father did me. It was a sign of a covenant with God for the Israelites. We do so out of tradition and health benefits. Less chance of infection when not properly cleaned (at young ages). That's my take. My opinion is but a grain of sand in the ocean.

Reebot2021 3 points ago +4 / -1

100% pro circumscribing

Kekmanchoo [S] 0 points ago +1 / -1

Why?

I like the way my dong looks and cleanliness

You may not know this (unless you're gay) but erect you cannot tell the difference.

3
DeadOverRed 3 points ago +3 / -0

There is some evidence that circumcision reduces chances of infection, STDs, etc. It's definitely not a requirement, though.

2
SweetTeaPatriot 2 points ago +3 / -1

There is a lot of good information on this on the Internet, so take some time to research it. We chose not to inflict needless pain on our infant sons for something that has no medical value at all -- it's just a social custom. Our boys have had absolutely no problems with it at all (they are teens and twenties now). There is no stigma to being uncircumcised, as the percentage of uncircumcised boys in the US is growing each year. There is a lot of value to the foreskin -- it's there for a reason and serves a purpose.

1
astralentity 1 point ago +2 / -1

I'm very much anti circumcision, but its also not my place to tell parents what to do. My point is that in truth, it should be the boy's decision at 18 whether or not he wants to be circumcised.

Also, Paul frowned upon it as a barbaric and unnecessary practice that is unneeded to follow Jesus.

1
Kekmanchoo [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Can you give me the passage that confirms this?

2
watchman4u 2 points ago +2 / -0

Paul wrote a true Jew is not one outwardly by the cutting off of the flesh but inwardly by the circumcision of the heart by answering w/a clear conscience to God

0
astralentity 0 points ago +1 / -1

Paul's letter to the Galatians explains a lot of it. In Philippians 3:2-3, he outright calls it mutilation.

As far as I'm concerned, circumcision is really the male analog to FGM, and it is not necessary as the physical act to be spiritually whole with God/Jesus.

1
3-10 1 point ago +1 / -0

Let me quote the text, he says nothing of the sort.

“Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of those who mutilate the flesh! For we are the circumcision, the ones who worship by the Spirit of God, exult in Christ Jesus, and do not rely on human credentials” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:2-3‬ ‭NET‬‬

He just said it isn’t needed for Salvation, but never calls it barbaric or hints it to be.

It is Genital Mutilation which is a matter that should be decided when he is old enough to make his own descisions,

whatever your demographic group.

But that is just my opinion, as you requested.

FlatEarth2020 1 point ago +2 / -1

As far as the religious/Biblical aspects of circumcision, I’ve come to view it in a symbolic sense. Honestly, if God wanted penises without foreskin, wouldn’t He have just made them that way? Even then, what kind of God is He if cutting away the foreskin is something that pleases him? And then, what do you do about those uncircumcised in heart and ears (also mentioned in the Bible)? We understand those are symbolic language, but we can’t understand it’s symbolic when it comes to genitalia.

I was circumcised as a child, and had both of my boys circumcised, but if I had it to do over, I’d keep all the parts we were born with.

Thanks for your input fren. Do you believe in flat Earth or is it just a funny username, and if so whats your opinion on hollow earth?

FlatEarth2020 0 points ago +1 / -1

I am 100% sure I do not live on a spinning space rock flying through space. All the astronomical speeds and directions involved...and the stars and constellations are the same as they’ve been for thousands of years. Just not possible.

Plus, we can see too far. Globe math requires an 8” drop per mile squared. So, 8” @ 1 mile, 32” @ 2 miles, 72” @ 3 miles and so on.

Way more info than I could put in a post, but if you have an extra $2.99 laying around, there’s an app called the Flat Earth Sun, Moon and Zodiac Clock app by Blue Water Bay that will show you pics and videos that Google and YouTube will not serve you. There are thousands of hours of research in that app. Well worth the $2.99.

The developer, Dave Weiss, has a flat earth app challenge: get the app, watch the daily video every day for two weeks, hit the ? button to see the 21 basic questions that everyone asks, and if you can give Dave one (1) proof of the globe, he’ll give you a full Bitcoin. Plus he’ll refund your $2.99.

Oh, hollow earth - not well versed on that, but I think it’s based on accounting for the extra land (Antarctica) while keeping a globe earth.

Open to further discussion, fren.

I did not mutilate my son and he has the choice to do it if he wants. He is older now and shows no interest in having it done, I was mutilated as per the customs at the time and would have preferred to have not been do to the loss of enjoyment with my wife.Just my two cents.
