All Federal authority derives from the President. He could have simply ordered the Federal branches - DOJ, FBI, DOD, DNI, etc to investigate the election,

Instead he did nothing.

Well fuck him, then, right?

Perhaps Trump had enough respect for the office that he didn't even think of going there.

That would have made Nixon's abuse of Executive power look like a DC parking ticket in comparison.

Most of us have serious problems with the DOJ/FBI, but how can we accuse Democrats for using them for political gain if we advocate Trump should have?

shrug

I'm simply asking the questions not offering the judgement.

Does he not take an oath to the Constitution? To protect it?

If the election was stolen, and Trump had evidence of such, failure to act is a violation of his oath.

If he did not have evidence the election was stolen that explains his inaction, but it doesn't explain his lies about it.

So either he is violating his sworn oath or he is lying out his ass to his followers.

Either of those options is bad news.

Most of us have serious problems with the DOJ/FBI, but how can we accuse Democrats for using them for political gain if we advocate Trump should have?

The Dems are exercising their legal authority tho. Trump should have exercised his.

Trump took an oath to the Constitution.

I'll ask one more time.

What could he have done differently and still maintained his pledge?

You make your argument using the word "If" as a predicate that leads to your conclusions.

"IF" doesn't work in the real world.

Trump took an oath to the Constitution.

Which he is evidently violating if election fraud is real.

I'll ask one more time.

I told you the first time.

He should have used his authority to investigate the election.
