It depends on the topic but MSM as a whole has fallen. Its corporate media and they do not look out for the people. It is so bad that the MSM doesn't bother to survey. Why should they? They have a monopoly. Politics is politics and people are gonna believe the politicians. If MSM had any political influence Trump would have never been President.
I think you seem to forget that the media had a major influence in Trump becoming President. They gave him wall to wall free coverage. It was good for their ratings, but they also promoted him because they thought he could never win.
