If that's the case, we have about 5 years until civilization completely collapses. I don't buy it, only because it'd be moronic for them to do. They'd be left with no one alive but the most noncompliant conservatives. It'd be like hitting the reset button in our favor.

This reminds me of a crazy conspiracy theory (re:your tinfoil hat is going to need at least 3 extra layers) I read a while ago. I don't remember all the specifics because it seemed so farfetched but the gist of it was the 'elites' could see the future, but there was some point they could never see beyond because none of them would survive it. The conclusion was basically "We're going to win eventually", but I mean, if you're destined to lose, you're probably going to take the route of mutually assured destruction and try to weaken the winning side as much as possible.

Still completely ridiculous, but interesting that people come up with such fanciful stories.
