With all due respect, they were slave labor. In that sense, yes they helped. Imagine if they weren't slaves back then, how much are they helping now? Anyway this is what happens when you let the very worst aspect of your society to represent you as being accurate. Anyway, to my prior point, they were slave labor, move that over that there (whip sound), pick that up (whip sound), that's basically it. I actually think America would have been a better place without slavery, I guess that might be controversial to say...
Irish were also slave labor. A big part of slave labor. Guess you don't count our efforts as slaves either?
